科学工作流技术及在天文研究中的应用探讨

A Study of Scientific Workflow Technology and Its Application in Astronomical Research

  • 摘要: 近几年来虚拟天文台技术的发展极为迅速,各国虚拟天文台研究相继启动,一系列虚拟天文台标准被提出并投入应用,有效地推动了信息技术在天文研究中的应用。科学工作流技术作为高性能计算与虚拟天文台中的关键技术,一直是研究的重点。但长期以来,受到业务工作流技术的影响,科学工作流的具体功能与作用,一直不被广大天文工作者理解和重视,限制了科学工作流的推广与应用。对科学工作流进行了深入分析,介绍了其基本功能和业务模型,详细比较了与业务工作流的差异。最后讨论了科学工作流在天文研究中的应用方法,对科学工作流的发展进行了展望。

     

    Abstract: In recent years, with the rapid development of the Virtual Observatory (VO) technology, many projects about VO establishment have been launched in various countries, and a series of standards of VO have been proposed and applied. These have been effectively pushing forward applications of information technology in astronomical research. As the key technology for both high-performance computing and VO, Scientific Workflow (SWF) is regarded as a highlight in relevant research areas. However, due to the interference of the Business Workflow (BWF) technology, the specific functions of SWF have not been well understood or appreciated by most astronomers for a long time, which limits popularization and application of SWF. In this paper, we carry out a high-level analysis of the technology of SWF, describing its basic functions and business models, and comparing SWF to BWF in details. We discuss the methods of applying SWF in astronomical researches, and finally expect certain development trends of the SWF technology.
