Abstract
In this paper we present the analyses of data of certain spectroscopic and photometric observations of two Type-IIn supernovae, the PTF10gvd and PTF10gvf. We decomposed their Hα emission-line profiles into two or three Gaussian components. From our measurements of the FWHM values of the narrow and intermediate-width components of the Hα emission-line profiles, we derived the wind velocity and the shock-wave velocity of each of the two supernovae to be ~102km/s and ~103km/s, respectively. We estimated the mass loss rates of the progenitors of the supernovae using the method of Chugai & Danziger (1994). The estimated mass loss rates are ~10-2 M⊙/yr and ~10-4 M⊙/yr for the PTF10gvf and the PTF10gvd, respectively. Based on the results we infer that the progenitors of the two supernovae are Luminous Blue Variables (LBVs), which supports the work of A.V. Gal-Yam & D.C. Leonard (2009).
