Abstract
In this paper we introduce the design of a high dynamic range analog receiver for solar radio observation in 800MHz-975MHz. The receiver is installed on the 10 meter solar radio telescope of the Yunnan Observatory. In the receiver system we adopt the RF-IF (Radio Frequency-Intermediate Frequency) two-stage amplification and step attenuators in a remote control mode. This allows us to easily control the gains of RF parts and IF parts of the system and to retrieve real-time gain values. The dynamic range of this receiver is from -30dB to +25dB. Because of its high dynamic range the receiver system not only avoids any overflow inducted by strong Radio Frequency Interferences (including communication signals), but also meets the conditions for observation of strong solar radio bursts, whose signals are usually thousands of times stronger than quiet-time signals.
