Abstract
The internet-based Scientific Practice Center of Astronomical Observation (SPCAO) can provide clients a variety of information on astronomical observation, including background knowledge of various kinds of celestial phenomena, forecasts of the latest and most interesting celestial phenomena, virtual tours of famous telescopes over the world, and so on. The website of SPCAO is designed and developed by us using multiple browser languages, such as the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSP/JavaBean. In addition, the website provides services of remote control of telescopes through a B/S structure, and transmits videos taken during observations to clients in real time through the Windows Media technology. Therefore, clients can submit applications online for remote control of telescopes, so that once an application is accepted, a client will be able to carry out astronomical observation over the internet and then download results in real time. Any observational results can be shared in a forum on the SPCAO website. The website has been serving stably for five months since its launch.
