On the Performance of Spectral Analysis with a Polyphase Filter Bank and Its Application in Radio Astronomy

A Polyphase Filter Bank(PFB)is a high-efficiency structure for realizing a uniform digital filter bank.It is mainly used in uniform subband decomposition of signals.In this paper we study the statistical performance and the computation amount of PFB when used as an estimation method of power spectra.We compare it to the traditional periodogram method,and test its performance in the observation of the 21cm HI line with the Miyun 30m Model FAST Radio Telescope.
