A VHDL Design of Digital System for an Interline-Transfer CCD

Abstract
This paper presents a new digital system designed with the VHDL and Quartus Ⅱ, which is used to control and drive an interline-transfer CCD imaging system. We first introduce and analyze the principle of the CCD imager KAI-04022 and that of the analog front-end processor AD9845B. We subsequently give a design of the digital system with a 2-layer 4-module VHDL program and with the digital control based on an FPGA(Altera EP2C35F672). The design is under the development environment of QuartusⅡ 8.0. This paper provides simulated waveforms as well as measured waveforms in an operational test. In addition, we compare and analyze the simulation and test results. We conclude that our design meets requirements for the CCD camera.
