A Study of a Method for the Coplanar Splicing of Segments into a Large-aperture Mirror Based on the Keck Method

  • The LAMOST is the first telescope using active optics on a thin segmented in China and actually in the world. However, the current design of the telescope is still for confocal imaging and does not involve the coplanar technology. The co-phase technology has been successfully applied to the Keck telescope, resulting in the diffraction image corresponding to a 10m mirror in the infrared band. This paper gives a brief description about the algorithm on the Keck and developes a simulation software usable for detecting the piston errors between mirror segments. The software will be applied to the experimental system of active optics on the segmented mirror on the LAMOST.The simulation result shows that the method should be practically applicable.
