Research and Development of the Dome/Slit Control System for the 85cm Reflector of NOAC-BNU

In this paper, we describe the research and development of the dome/slit control system for the 85cm telescope at the Xinglong Observatory, National Astronomical Observatories (NAOC) The system is based on the programmable logical controller (PLC) and Modbus protocol. Certain other components of the system, such as actuators and the sensors, are also described in details. This is one of the steps to unify the dome control systems at the Xinglong Observatory.
