  • A new lightweight mirror structure is proposed in this paper. It is much similar to the honeycomb mirrors which have a bigger proportion in weight-lowing compared with the new lightweight mirrors and have a series of holes in the back side. However, the new mirror is easier to be manufactured and has lower costs compared with honeycomb mirrors. A study of using the structure in a tilting mirror of the Space Solar Telescope (SST) is also made and the main structural parameters and the mirror surface deformation are given in this paper. It is shown that this lightweight mirror can satisfy the using requirement for SST.
