Ultraluminous IRAS Galaxies and AGN

  • I review the main progress achieved in recent years by our group on ultraluminous IRAS galaxies study. It includes the evolutionary track from galaxy merger to elliptical galaxies through the massive starburst and AGN phase. I emphasize the evidence of multiple merger origin for some ULIRGs and the possible evolut ionary connection of IR QSOs with luminous NLS1 and lo-BAL QSOs.
