Spectral Analysis of the D3 Emission Lines of a Mound Prominence I-Characteristics and Calculations of the D3 Lines

The mound prominence above the solar east limb on May 5,1984 was observed with Hα monochromatic images and D3 emission lines.17 D3 lines from Kawaguchi et al(1986),which were found to consist of two components,i.e. the main and the broadened components,have been successfully calculated by using the two-cloud model method,and the fitting results are given in this paper.The results obtained show that the D3 lines are mainly broadened by the microturbulence and the thermal movement,and other broadening mechanisms can be neglected.
