A Calculation Method of Linear Polarization Angle for Antenna on Satellite Communication Ground Station

  • Satellite communication is one kind of communications with artificial satellites between Earth radio equipments. Due to stationary characteristic relative to the Earth, the Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) communication satellites are widely used in the fields of communication, meteorology, navigation, etc. Communication ground stations play an important part in satellite communications. Accurate adjustment of azimuth angle, elevation angle and polarization angle for the receiving antenna is one of the key conditions to effective communication. With the definition of linear polarization angle, authors of this paper have presented a vector calculation method of linear polarization angle which is suitable for GEO satellite communications. The method can be used to provide guidance for polarization adjustment of antennas at the satellite communication ground station.
