Abstract
A displacement actuator using a stepper motor was developed for a ring solar telescope, and comprehensive tests were performed to evaluate of its performance. Three design schemes were commonly used in the development of large-stroke and high-precision displacement actuators. And we chose the Displacement Scaling as the basic structure of Displacement Actuator. To achieve high resolution, high stiffness and high precision, Displacement Actuator was driven by Stepper Motors and Planetary Reducers with specific interval-eliminating structures. The experiments of performance test results indicated that the Displacement Actuator's axial displacement range is ±2mm, 1μm step resolution can be achieved under different workloads, and step resolution can be achieved under different workloads, and the output accuracy of the position closed-loop is better than 1μm. The Displacement Actuator we developed provided important technical support for the ring solar telescope, as well as references for the engineering application of other precision optical mirror support system.
