Abstract
An optical telescope with a micrometer is used to precisely adjust the polar axis of an equatorial radio telescope and any precise dial and clock will not be needed. The attainable precision of the measurement and calibration of the polar axis is about 6 arcsec. This paper describes the principle and operational procedure of this method in detail.
