Abstract
Measuring errors mainly result from the atmospheric refraction effects besides an instrument when the position of a celestial body is absolutety determined by means of a meridian instrument. The usable accurate error values can not be given by the existing atmospheric refraction theories, especially in the case of greater zenith distances. In order to improve the accuracy in measurement for the position of a celestial body,a method is proposed in this paper that the atmospheric refraction value of the position of the body by observing it in the prime direction with a lower latitude meridian circle. The results are expected to be used to form the atmospheric refraction value table, closer to the practical conditions.Meanwhile, the special atmospheric refraction value tables can be formed for the stars of different spectral types.
