  • In this paper we mainly report on the work on the groundbased determination of solar radiation as a function of wavelengths done in the Kunming area, Yunnan Province, China and the analysis and processing of the 196 groups of data obtained at four observation time intervals. The solar irradiation curves are given and discussed of the four seasons on the Earth drawn at the wavelengths from 0.28 to 0.76 as the atmospheric mass M=10, 7, 5, 3, 2 and 1, and the synthetic error is also given in this article. In addition, the application of the spectrophotometry of solar radiation to the research on plants is described. The research work is briefly introduced on the subject entitled "Solar Actinometry in Tropical Rain Forests and Artificial Plant Communities" carried out by the author in collaboration with his colleagues at the Institute of Tropic Botany of Yunnan, Xishuan Banna, Yunnan Province, from 1983 to 1985, and the preliminary analysis of the results obtained is attached.
