Abstract
A new method for compiling up a meridian catalog is presented in this paper. According to this method, after making the precession, nutation, aberration and proper motion corrections for the recording times of the meridian transit observations of all the stars, the influence of the changes in the clock correction can be removed by using the observations of the common stars of different nights. Then, the observations are all reduced to those of a certain night, near the beginning of the year, with respect to the mean position of the beginning of the year and the corrections for the positions with respect to the mean position of the beginning of the year can be directly calculated by averaging the observations many times. It is unnecessary to use the traditional chain method and to observe stars in fixed groups by daylight.
