Abstract
Total Electron Content (TEC) is the total electron number in a cylinder parallel to the radio propagation path and with a cross section of 1 m2, and its unit is electron number/m2(el/m2). The Beijing station receives the radio wave transmitted from the synchronous satellite ETS-II(130°E, O°N). The detected value is the Faraday rotation angle Ω of the polarization plane of the radio wave, so the detected TEC is the total electron number under 3100km in the thwart cylinder from the Beijing station(117.3°E, 36.4°N) to the EST-Ⅱ satellite. With the help of the spheric stratification or the level stratification hypothesis, it may be transferred to the TEC in the verical cylinder.
