A THEORETICAL ANALYSES OF CONVECTION ELECTRIFICATION PROCESS IN THUNDERSTORM

  • Lightning discharges accompanying frequently with convective storm, indicate that there should be some electrification processes which produce electric energy continuously to compensate the energy consumed by lightning. There exist two main theories dealing with the electrification mechanism. The first one which had been accepted by many scientists suggests that the colliding and separation of different hydrometeors is the main process for electrification inside the storm (precipitation theory). The other one indicates the importance of convection, which could transport and separate charges with different polarities(convection theory).
