Abstract
In this paper, the methods for the determination of the main errors of the LLMC arc presented by comparing them with those of the traditional meridian circle, and the accuracies, especially the correction of the flexure of the tube of the circle, are estimated. After a CCD detector is attached to the LLMC, the accuracy of determining may reach 0.001. The possibility is analysed of obtaining the instantaneous azimuth and latitude with an accuracy of ±0.01, and the prospect of the accuracy of better than ±0."02 for a single absolute location of a star on the celestial sphere is also analysed. This is the advantage the LLMC will have and it is also the one which should be brought into full play.
