Abstract
In this paper,the dimension descending method is proposed to fit the Ha line profiles of a solar prominence.The method is very suitable to the fitting of the multivariable objective function and the derivation of the objective function need not be taken into account when the line profiles are fitted.Especially,the variations in the fitting parameters can be controllde within their defined boundaries,respectively,by means of this method,and therefore the reliability of the solution is ensured to a certain extent.For examples,some asymmtrical line profiles of the loop prominence observed on Feb.18,1984 are fitted by using this method.It is found that the method has some characteristics,like the results with high accuracy and large convergent redii.
