Infrared Study of the HⅡ Region—Molecular Cloud Complex S142

  • The infrared emission behaviour of HⅡ region—molecular cloud complex SI42 is examined through the IRAS Sky Survey Atlases. The IRAF and sky view software are used to analyze and thus the contours of the infrared intensity, the color temperature and the optical depth of S142 are presented. The results show that the total infrared luminosity in the~30pc region is 1.1×l04L. The IR thermal continum emission has a larger extention at 12μm and 100μm. The mean dust temperature is 170K for smsall hot grains and 29K for large colder grains. The amount of dust grains falls off rapidly away from the peak position. Dust with in S412 is seriously depleted.
