A review of the observational and theoretical study history for the W UMa-type contact binaries is presented in this paper.The observational characteristics and the theoretical results for this kind of stars are summarized.Finally, some of problems and possible solution for the theoreitical models of the W UMa-type contact binaries are discussed.

A large sample of disk stellar kinematics and abundance data is the key to trace the Galactic structure and evolution,especially for the mechanisms of disk formation and evolution,In this paper,a brief introduction of the whole properties of the Milky Way Galaxy is presented,and special attentions are given to the importance of above two tracers.A proper evaluation is given to the potential abilities of the LAMOST project to the study of the Galactic structure,disk formation and evolution.

This paper mainly overviews the contents and the according methods of the alert and short-term prediction for the solar activity, and introduces the present study states of the alert and short-term prediction for the solar activity in the world. The 2D Hβ spectral data of the post-flare loop system (PFLs) of August 17, 1989 are obtained and analyzed quantitatively for three different times. Three physical quantities (i.e., the column number density of hydrogen atoms at the second level along the line-of-sight direction N2,the excitation temperature Texand micro-turbulence velocity Vt) and their 2D fields are derived during the three times.The time variations of the 2D field are given for the three quantities more than one hour after the maximum of the Hα flare. Our analyses show that the average values of N2and Vt decrease with time, while Tex is nearly unchanged except for the top part of the PFLs where it is increasing slightly with time. The distributions of N2, Tex and Vt are inhomogeneous and asymmetric in the PFLs, they have a close relation with the position within the PFLs, but a little relation with the height above photosphere.A new evolution property is found in which the regions with the maxima of Tex and N2 move from the middle of the southern leg towards the top part of the PFLs, while the position of Vt maximum shifts from the top part towards the northern leg of the system to form a‘siphon’-like phenomenon. This scenario may be a result of successive formation of new loops at higher heights while under continuous cooling.

A very complex outstanding solar radio burst was observed with the wide-band spectrometer of NAOC on October 19,2001.This burst was characterized by a broader band (decameter to dcetimeter) burst followed by an more intense narrow-band burst at the lower frequencies (decimetric).NoRH (Nobeyama Radio Heliograph) observations about this event at 17 and 34 GHz showed that the cofiguration of radio sources included three sources,i.e.,a pre-existing source,a main source,and a disturbing source.The emission time profiles of these three sources were essentially different.The pre-existing source should be the manifestation of the heating process of the flare,and should be related to the complex component of the radio burst.The main source should be related to the continua of the radio burst.The disturbing source should be the trigger of this burst.Combining the data of NoRH,the evolution of microwave sources,as well as the relation between the sources evolution and the global features of the radio emissions are studied.Combining the data of MDI (Michelson Doppler Imager),we conclude that the pre-existing source should be near the feet of the coronal loop and the main source shoule be near the top of the loop or at least near the loop leg.Furthermore,the very slow moving of the main source has been found,it may be related to the formation of CME associated with this event.

A small period model of measuring encoder was built to sample and process images at the 1.2m Alt-Az telescope. Fractional error of digital display of measuring encoder was solved.The pointing accuracy is greatly improved.It is important for measuring and determining orbit of space targets and tracking blindly on Satellite Laser Ranging.

The Observation of synchronous debrises is simulated in this paper.At two sites:Nanjing station and Kunming station,employing two ways that are tracking stars and tracking satellites,and observing the geostationary satellites with the identical geographical longitude,the simulating observation is made. The method of finding the new object and its initial orbit are given.A helpful effort on the database of space debrises is made.
