The Application of ARM-Based Embedded System in Automatic Weather Monitoring System: NVST Weather Station as an Example

  • The automatic weather monitoring system is one of the necessary auxiliary systems of modern astronomical observation stations. Traditional automatic weather monitoring system is based on microcontroller or PC development. Microcontroller is mainly used for industrial control, which cannot meet the requirements of multi-task and batch data rapid processing. Due to high power consumption, high cost and low portability, PC cannot be used in cases, such as when choosing a new site. In order to overcome the shortcomings of the above-mentioned two development methods, this paper adopts an embedded system based on ARM architecture for NVST to develop a low power consumption, low cost and high stability automatic weather monitoring system. This paper introduces the overall design of NVST weather station, hardware and software functions, as well as the problems and solutions.
