Research of Yisi Solar Eclipse Observation in the Oracle-bone Inscriptions of the Yin Dynasty Based on the JPL Planetary Ephemeris

  • For the only solar eclipse recoded in the oracle-bone inscriptions of the Yin dynasty discovered so far, the authors use the DE422 planetary ephemeris released by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to calculate the main parameters involved in the Yisi solar eclipse, give the coverage of the solar eclipse path on the Earth. Furthermore, the visibility of the solar eclipse in Anyang, capital of the Yin dynasty is confirmed and the accuracy of the Oracle-bone inscriptions about the solar eclipse of the Yin dynasty is verified.
