The Relationship Between the Coronal Hole Evolution and Solar Cycle

  • In this thesis by using data in the catalogue of coronal holes in 1970-1991 and the Halpha Synoptic Chart in 1992-1995 we have analy zed the evolution of the temporal and spacial distribution of coronal holes (CHs), the features of the magnetic fields of the CHs and their ralation to the Solar Cycle. The ralation between the CHs and the terrestrial magnetic disturba nces are also studied. It is found that the dist ribution of CHs is asymmetric in the direction of nort-south; there exist sevident periodicity for the decay and bloom of the CHs; it present a complementary relation between the decay and bloom of the polar CHs and the period of sunspots; but for the equatorial CHs and the period of sunspots there is a consistence. The lati tudal distribution of the eqntorial CHs increases with Solor Cycle but reaches its maximum after the solar maximum year and then decreases with the solar cycle. The polarity of the mag netic fields of the polar CHs indica tesa periodicity of 11 years-the reverse of the magnetic fields occured during the solar maximum year. In addition, our research also shows that the evolution of the CHs is closely ralated to solar winds and the terrest rial mag netic disturbances.
