Configuration of the Polytropic Model of Binary Star and Its Perturbation Influence on the Orbital Elements of the Synchronous Components in Close Binary System

  • The configuration of the polytropic model of binary star and its perturbation influence on the orbital elements of the synchronous component are studied. The perturbation variables are derived by asumming that the two com ponents are moved in the same orbital plane or the orbital plane consists with the equatorial plane of primary star. The theoretical results show that the perturbation effect of polytropic configuration results in both the secular and periodic variation of the periastron and the mean anomaly of epoch, however, the semimajor axis and the eccentricity exhibits no secular variation, but only periodic variation. The theoretical results are applied to calculate the variation of the orbital elements of the synch ronous com ponent in Algol(βPer) . The numerical results for the amplitudes of the periodic terms and the secular variable rate of the orbital elements of synch ronous components are given, and the theoretical results are discussed.
