Atmospheric Model Comparisons in thePrecisi on Orbit Determination of the Satelite Starlete

  • For the sake of making comparisons among different existing atmospheric models, the author has extended alternative atmospheric models in the program SHORDE for the precision satellite orbit determination at Shanghai Astronomical Observ atory by introducing the atmospheric model CIRA-1986 into the subroutines of the program. Based on multiple atmospheric models and observ ational data from the satellite Starlette, derived results indicate that the exponential model for earth's atmosphere (EXPT) is more appro priate for the effective determination. Thereby, it is recomm ended to apply the EXPT model to the precision orbit determination of the satellite Starlette.
