The Relationship Between Strong Earthquakes, Lunar Phase, Inclination Between the Moon's Path and the Equator at Yunnan Province

  • The relationship between lunar phase, inclination between the Moon's path and the Equator, and strong earthquakes at Yunnan province in 20th century is presented in this paper. The result indicates that strong earthquakes in Zhongdian and Lijiang mostly occurred in Full Moon. The ones in Qiaojia and Yiliang occurred in New and Full Moon. The ones in Daguan and Mabian did not occur in New and Full Moon. Another result shows that 11 among 13 earthquakes over magnitude 7.0 at Yunnan in 20th century occurred in the extreme-value-years of inclination between the Moon's path and Equator with a radius of 2 years, especially for Gengma, Menghai and Eshan.
