Simulation of Overlapping between Main Wave and Echo in Common Optical-Path High Repetition Rate Laser Ranging

  • High Repetition Rate Laser Ranging is an effective method to extend measurement data and improve the accuracy of the reference point. This paper introduces the principle and techniques of the Yunnan Observatory Common Optical-Path High Repetition Rate Laser Ranging system. We particularly analyze the overlapping between main wave and echo through simulations in the Common Optical-Path High Repetition Rate Laser Ranging, and obtain the criteria of the overlapping. We find that the overlap rate for a near-Earth orbit satellite is about 7%, the overlap rate for a high-orbit satellite is slightly higher but still less than 8%, and the overlap rate for a lunar surface reflector is about 10%.
