Design and Implementation of Software for Operations of the Servo System of the 1.26m Infrared Telescope of the NAO

  • The 1.26m infrared telescope at the Xinglong Observertory of the National Astronomical Observertories (NAO) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was extensively upgraded in 2011. In this paper we focus on the softeware for operations of its new servo system, which is to be used in automated operations of the telescope for various observational approaches and action modes. The softeware was designed based on the Finite State Machine to ensure stablity and relialibility. In designing the software we have specified the needed sets of states and actions of the telescope; we have also specified transtions between the states. In addition, we present frequently encountered faults of the telescope and their solutions. The softeware supports remote control of the telescope, which makes it easy for the software to be incorporated into the centralized control system of the obserbvertory. The software and its design idea can be conveniently applied to other small- or median-sized telescopes in China.
