The Hydraulic Monitor and Its Control System of the 1m Infrared Solar Telescope of the Yunnan Observatory

  • The azimuth drive system of the 1m infrared solar telescope of the Yunnan Observatory adopts hydraulic bearings. Only when the hydraulic system works properly can the telescope achieve a smooth rotation. The working status of the hydraulic system can be monitored by measuring its oil pressure and oil temperature. Considering the original hydraulic system does not provide real-time monitoring and has only a low level of automation, we design a hydraulic monitor and its control system and integrate them into the telescope control system. The designed systems can acquire data of the oil pressure/temperature, alarm in case of an abnormal oil pressure, achieve automatic control of the oil pump, and possess other functions to ensure the safe operation of the hydraulic bearings. This paper introduces the structures and working principle of the designed systems, presents the hardware and software designs for the data acquisition, and finally provides the corresponding experimental data and operation results. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the systems work properly with high data-acquisition speed and high resolution, while their precisions can meet the requirements of long-term stable operation.
