Analysis of Network Stability in the LAMOST Observation Control System

  • The Observatory Control System(OCS)is a software system for the LAMOST (Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Survey Telescope). It is network-based and can carry out an operational procedure of observation automatically. The actual network topology and communication protocols of OCS are studied in this paper, and a simulation software NS2 is consequently used to simulate and analyze the network.Comparison of simulation results and actual measurements shows that the NS2 simulations are useful in analyzing the network. The simulations and measurements suggest that the current OCS can work stably in an real environment with the actual network topology and communication protocols. This paper also introduces a method of network fault diagnosis for the OCS.
