Reduction of Data of Interplanetary Scintillations Observed at a Single Station with a Single-Frequency Mode

  • Solar wind is the primary source of materials in the interplanetary space, and is very important for the environment of the interplanetary space and the study of geophysics.Ground-based interplanetary scintillation (IPS)observations are important for monitoring solar-wind speed, observing solar-wind irregular plasma structures, and measuring angular sizes of distant compact radio sources. This paper describes the principles of observations of IPS at a single-station and at single-frequencies (SSSF),and also the data reduction method for this mode. There is a new system being developed for observations of IPS in a dual frequency mode at the Miyun Station of the National Astronomical Observatories of China. The new system is to serve the Meridian Project. This work is the preparation for the data analysis of the new system.
