The Manipulation of Instruments and Information in an Observation of Total Solar Eclipse

  • On August 1.2008, the author had a chance to take part in an observation of total solar eclipse in Xinjiang.Though he began his preparing work three months before the event, the result of the observation missed the expectation significantly because of several unfavorable factors. One said "the fail is the mother of a success".After thinking over the experiences and lessons about the selection of hardwares including the telescope, camera, and filter, the author suggests the method of choosing "the relative moments" in the entire process of a solar eclipse, the calibration of the "relative time" records in a digital camera, and the setting of the "relative exposures" in photographing.
