The Probabilities of Perception of Human Eyesin the Visual Observation of Meteors

  • Up to now, the visual observation is still the main method in recording meteors although several other techniques have been developed.Especially, when a strong meteor shower is coming, the amateur astronomers all over the world mostly observe visually. The probabilities of perception of the human eyes play very important roles in the observation. In the 1990s, the basic data of the probabilities of perception were obtained. However, an analytical function describing the probability of perception is still being searched.Through his research in recent years the author discovers a single-variable from as well as a double-variable form of analytical function to fit the probabilities. These analytical forms can be applied in both theoretical and observational studies.
