  • In order to derive the information of abnormal changes in the astronomical longitude and latitude of an observing station in the Yunnan Provence before a nearby strong earthquake, we propose in this paper two methods to set up observational programs. One is of the eight-direction observation, and the other is of the observation along the meridian. From the discussion we conclude that Hipparcos stellar objects with magnitudes 4.0 to 6.0 and among the five spectral class as B, A, F, G and K are adequate for the measurement. The range of magnitude also provides the basis for the choice of apertures of measuring instruments.
