PDOP Simulation of the Galileo Navigation and Positional System

  • The Galileo Satellite Navigation and Positional System is a future global positional system, which will provide users all over the world with 3 dimensional position and velocity information. The theoretical concepts of the Galileo are almost the same as those of the GPS.Compared with the GPS,the Galileo has its advantages in greater orbital altitudes, slightly greater orbital inclination, more operational satellites and more transparent technical strategy, for example,no SA or AS.Herein, the difference and feature between the GALILEO and the GPS constellations are briefly analyzed.Using the STK software, the PDOP parameter for the GALILEO constellation is simulated.Simulation results for some world cities are tabulated.One-minute sampling simulation results in a solid day are presented for some geographically typical world cities.
