Improvement on Test and Reduction Methods for Readout Noise and Charge Transfer Efficiency of CCD Camera

  • Test and reduction methods in common use for readout noise and charge transfer efficiency (CTE) of CCD camera are introduced briefly, their insufficiencies are pointed out, and then improvements are made. The modified readout noise measurement is based on the standard deviation of a selected square in the overscan image. When the CTE is reduced, an appropriate initial transfer line from the X-ray single-pixel-events plot and its interzone are first determined by the user-PC interaction, and then a linear fit is performed in the interzone so as to get a more precise transfer line. Thus a new interzone is obtained and a next linear fit can be done. In this manner, a more precise CTE datum can be obtained. Another difference, compared with other methods, is that the modified reduction methods are programmed with MATLAB.
