MSISE90 Atmospheric Density Model and its Application to the GPS Radio Occultation

  • MSISE90 atmospheric density model is briefly introduced. This model is devoted to upgrade the computational precision of the low atmospheric parameters, such as densities for main components or total mass density of the terrestrial atmosphere and temperature profiles of the atmosphere. It is semi-empirically fitted by mass spectrometer/incoherent scatter measurements with MSIS86 as its main basis. The amendments of this model are referred. At last, the model is employed to produce a priori temperature series for the GPS radio occultation.
