Research on Multi-Projector Image Blending for Full Dome Screen in Digital Planetariums

  • Troubled by huge cost in program making and difficulties in extending its functions, traditional planetarium has been gradually replaced by powerful digital planetarium. With the development of astronomy education and popularization of science, digital planetarium is in high demand in China. The key technique for digital planetarium is full dome projection, especially the multi-projectors' projection. We present a straightforward method to increase the automation in multi-projectors calibration for small and medium size planetariums. Most effort of the method is in geometry alignment, light and color calibration. This method is easy to implement and operate for target planetariums.
