The Statistical Research of the Spatial Distribution and Time Variation of Pulsar

  • The statistical study of pulsar parameters is an important basic work in pulsar research field. By using the latest observational data of pulsars, the spatial distribution and time variation of the parameters of more than 2500 pulsars are studied statistically. Results show that the pulsars concentrate near the galactic plane, and the maximum value of the number distribution of pulsars is located at about 7.27kpc, which is the distance between pulsar and the center of the galaxy. This may be the observational effects of interstellar dispersion and interstellar scattering. Furthermore, with the distance away from the galactic plane, the variation law of the rotation period, surface magnetic field, characteristic age, and loss rate of rotational kinetic energy are given. The normal pulsar rotation period and characteristic age gradually increase as the distance increases, while the surface magnetic field and loss rate of rotational kinetic energy decrease. With the characteristic age increasing, the radio luminosity of the normal pulsar increases at first and then declines, which indicates that the radio emission mechanism of normal pulsar is different at different characteristic age. The loss rate of rotational kinetic energy decreases logarithmically and rapidly as the characteristic age increases. These results are important bases to the study of pulsar distribution evolution theory.
