Time-varying Source Simulation Research Based on Digital Micromirror Device

  • An extended source with time-varying characteristics is required in the laboratory development of correlation tracker image stabilization system in the solar telescope. Dynamic source simulator should have high refresh rate and high imaging quality. At present, the frame rates of the source simulators used in China and abroad are generally low, and some will bring flicker in the high-speed display. So they are not suitable for the application of our system. We use the digital micromirror device (DMD) as the display device of correlation tracker image stabilization system for experiments and study the effect of different source images, grayscale levels, frame rates on the simulation by measuring the correlation coefficient value of the image sequences as an indicator of the time-varying characteristics of dynamic sources. The experimental results show that the simulation results of time-varying characteristics of the source consistent with the actual situation of the observatory in solar observation. The dynamic simulation source provided by DMD can fulfill the development requirements of image stabilization system.
