Determining the Absolute Parameters of the Meridian Circle by Observing the Prime Vertical (Ⅶ) The Effect of the Diurnal Variation Term of the Latitude in the Determined Values of the Azimuth Equation and Latitude

  • In this paper the expression is derived of the effect of the diurnal variation .term of the latitude in the values of the azimuth equation and the instantaneous latitude which are absolutely determined by observing a star alternately in the prime vertical and meridian directions. There is the effect with the same order of magnitude as the variation in the.determined values of the azimuth equation while in the determined values of the instantaneous latitude, the effect is greater than the magnitude of the variation of the observation at the mean time interval, and therefore the effect can be determined from this observation itself.
