Preliminary Report on the Site Survey Made on the Jiaozi Mountain

The geographical and seismic conditions as well as some others of Jiaozi Mountain (200 kilometers away from Kunming) are describled in this paper, and the meteorological conditions are also discussed according to some indirect data. As one of the potential sites for an observatory, Mt. Jiaozi has some advamtages, such as the higher elevation (4221m), 2 or 3 kilometers higher than the surrounding areas, and no industrial and light pollution. But summer mountain weather will influence the number of clear nights and the humidity. The quantitative results and other conditions of the astronomical observation can be given after the observation over a long period of time.
