Abstract

The expert group for strategic study of promoting coherence research on astronomy, space science and earth science organized in the summer of 1985 by the planning Bureau of CAS presented a proposal on the global character research of solar-terrestrial system in 1986. The proposal was extensively supported by the scientific workers in the fields of solar physics, space physics and geo-sciences, and also the persons in HQ of CAS. Professor Zhou Guang-zhao, the president of CAS, suggested emphasizing the coordinated study in the period of the solar maximum year.
