Public Employment of the 1-m Telescope at the Yunnan Observatory for Ten Years

  • The one meter RCC reflector as the public equipment for the astronomical circle of China, has been put into operation at the Yunnan Observatory since 1979. It has also been opened to astronomers from other countries over the world. Table 1 reveals the observing time shared by the observers from the Yunnan Observatory and other institutes of China. Table 2 shows some examples of the projects observed by foreign astronomers.A lot of terminal instruments for astronomy, such as an infrared photometer, an integration photoelectric photometer and a thinned——CCD system, etc., have been developed and put into operation. A speckle interferometer, a prizm spectrometer attached to the focal reducer and a thick CCD system assembled at the Coude' spectrograph are also developed and put into test observation.161 papers written by means of the observations obtained with the 1-meter telescope have been published, on an average, about 20 papers a year.
