NUMERICAL STUDIES OF IONOSPHERIC CURRENTS AND ELECTRIC FIELDS DRIVEN BY A PLANETARY WAVES WITH A TWO-DAY PERIOD(Abstract)

  • Since the 1970's a steady 2-day wave has been detected in the mesosphere and lowthermosphere by many observations such as meteor radar,partial reflection driftradar,means of satellite radiance measurements and rocket measurements.It has beenrevealed that 2-day wave travels westwards with longitudinal wave number three and theinferred vertical wave length of the wave is in excess of 100km.
