Development and Application of A Strong Image Buffer

  • Because of the smaller internal storage, the read-out of a CCD should be carried out with some little blocks and is stored into a disk at any time. The quality of the data is no good owing to the interruption in the process of the reading-out. The internal storage of a normal operating system is still limited to the size of 640k even though the microcomputers of over lM are in common use.Presently, the sizes of CCD chips are larger and larger, and this conflict is sharper and sharper. To counter this conflict, the author introduces a method for using the extended internal stroge as an image buffer and gives the concrete steps of the method. It is considered that this method has a very strong guiding significance to the production of the next generation of an astronomical image system.
