Optimal Criteria of Image Restoration

  • Various kinds of optimal criteria for the image restoration are investigated statistically which have been widely used in both linear and nonlinear restoration methods. It is pointed out that the Maximum Information(MI) criterion works well for restoring astronomical images, and three new criteria in the domain of image restoration are introduced which are respectively the Maximum Image Information(MII), Minimum Perceptual Mean Square Error(MPMSE) and Minimum Detection Probability MSE(MDP-MSE).Among them the former is based on the principle of Fuzzy sets and the later two are based on the visual system models. The criteria of MDP-MES and MI are emphatically discussed.
